My first real chance to experiment seriously with clay came when I took a year’s Access to Art course at Swindon College in 2002. I found it enormously interesting and felt there was much more I wanted to try out so i progressed onto a two year HND in Ceramics. Following this I set up a shared studio on a beautiful Cotswold farm where I am still based.

I grew up in Guernsey and the colours, textures and forms of the sea and coast are a major influence on my work. I work in two main ways – hand building in a textured, sand-coloured crank clay and slip-casting porcelain. I have become particularly interested in glazing and enjoy layering glazes and decoration to create different effects. I find clay endlessly challenging and never get over the excitement of opening the kiln to see how glazes have worked and how pieces have turned out.
